PROPOSALS for an £89m overhaul of secondary education in part of the region will be in the spotlight this week.
Durham County councillors will be asked to approve a scheme that would involve a £25m school on the site of Shotton Hall School, in Peterlee.
The proposals also include a £16m replacement for Seaham School of Technology, and nearly £50m worth of improvements to other secondary schools, including Easington Community School, St Bede's RC Comprehensive, Wellfield, Sedgefield Community College and Glen Dene Special School.
Pupils from Dene Community School of Technology would attend the new £25m "superschool" in Peterlee.
The council's cabinet will be told on Thursday it is the preferred of two options.
