POLICE are urging bus passengers to help them trace a gang who beat up a 21-year-old man on Saturday.
The victim, who has not been named, was kicked on the ground by five or six other men who had chased him into Bishop Auckland bus station at about 7.30pm.
One of the man had first punched him in the face.
The man needed hospital treatment for facial injuries and was recovering at home yesterday.
PC Katrina Meisuria said people may have been in the area at the time either walking through the bus station, in Clayton Street, or waiting to travel. She said: "It was a nasty attack and we need to find the people who did this."
Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 60 60 365.
