D-DAY paratrooper George Price will share a gem of a day with his wartime sweetheart to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
The former Lance Corporal with the 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion met his wife, Edna, during a course in North Wales and they married in 1946.
They will join friends and family from as far as Buckinghamshire to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary next week.
"We're going to party, party, party," said Mr Price, 82.
"Edna and I have a wonderful life together and we have a wonderful family around us. It is certainly a milestone to mark."
The couple, from Norton, in Stockton, will enjoy a family get-together on Thursday evening, joined by their children, Susan and Graham, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Aged 20, Mr Price went in search of "some excitement and adventure" and joined the newly-formed Paratroop battalions.
After his service with the paras, Mr Price spent time in Fulham, managing a grocery shop before meeting Edna and moving to Stockton.
