PIPEWORK design specialist Forge House Group (FHG) expects its turnover to increase by a third to £2m this year.
The Darlington company said work for clients in the iron and steel industry had accounted for much of the growth. In the past six years, FHG has increased its workforce from 18 to 50.
Managing director Ron Harker said: "We are doing a lot of work in the iron and steel industry, with 22 of our men at VAI in Thornaby."
Since difficulties in the 90s, the company has transformed itself, producing everything from moulded machine lids to road safety equipment - a project which came about when Middlesbrough road safety officer Dave Milford wanted to show children the dangers of not wearing seatbelts. FHG has sold 80 safety kits at £1,000 each, showing the danger faced by unstrapped passengers.
