A NEW youth drop-in centre aimed at combating anti- social behaviour has received a another cash boost.
The YMCA in Galgate, Barnard Castle, recently achieved its funding target to enable refurbishment of the premises.
Now, a further £2,000 has been committed by the Teesdale Task Group, which will pay for a pool table.
Inspector Kevin Tuck, of Barnard Castle police, and a member of the Teesdale Task Group, is trying to secure an additional £3,000.
This money, from the Police Authorities Grants Scheme, could pay for a plasma television and surround-sound system.
Inspector Tuck said the centre would help alleviate the problems of anti-social behaviour.
He said: "We are delighted the project team got all the funding it needed.
"The centre promises to be the most exciting new provision since the sports centre.
"It will not solve all the problems but will provide another tool in the armoury and would be an asset to the town."
