AN animal charity is celebrating after rehoming its 50th and 51st dogs.
The North Yorkshire branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust, based in Thirsk, is dedicated to finding new homes for ex-racing dogs.
The 50th and 51st dogs were taken on by Christine Bailey and her husband George, from Slingsby, near Malton.
They adopted Daniel and Lucy after meeting Karen Fraser from the charity at Ryedale Show last year.
Mrs Bailey said: "We have always had dogs. However adopting greyhounds is a first for us.
"Karen felt that Daniel would be the perfect greyhound for us, and brought him around to meet us - and he never left."
Mrs Fraser said rehoming the 50th greyhound was a milestone for the charity, which was set up in 2004.
She has three greyhounds and visits fairs and shows around the county publicising the work of the trust.
"Finding homes for greyhounds is getting easier , as people seem to be less inclined to believe the misconceptions that greyhounds make frantic and unsuitable pets," she said.
