A YOUNGSTER made the mistake of asking an undercover police officer to buy them drink during an operation to tackle disorder outside a supermarket.
The initiative was set up by Newcastle police after problems at the Co-op in Newburn Road, Throckley.
Staff have been threatened, while there has been disorder by youths in and around the store.
From last week, extra officers have been in the area, while some in plain clothes have been in the store monitoring problems.
One youth made the mistake of approaching an undercover officer to see if they would buy alcohol for them.
Letters will be sent to a number of parents about the behaviour of their children.
There have also been two arrests for public order offences.
