EIGHTY Scouts and Guides took part in an outdoor competition to hone their skills.
The annual outdoor Scout and Guide contest, run by Durham University Scout and Guide Group, took place at the weekend.
Starting from Sunderland Bridge, the youngsters completed a hike, with various challenges at sites around the route.
The Guides took part in four challenges over an eight-kilometre route and the Scouts completed five challenges over a 12-kilometre route.
The 5th Durham Scouts Team A amassed 106.5 points, just ahead of 4th Durham Scouts and 5th Durham Scouts Team B, in equal second on 104 points.
The Guides competition was won by 6th Durham (Oswald's) team A, nine-and-a-half points ahead of the B team in second place.
