A FAMILY firm has invested more than £300,000 in machinery and is planning to create up to eight new jobs over the next three years.
Ernest Bennett & Co, based at Durham Tees Valley Airport, has won a contract from the UK's largest saw milling group. The company makes industrial saw blades and has a workforce of 50.
Ernest Bennett managed to secure a Government grant to help it with costs, with the help of Business Link Tees Valley.
Managing director Rob Maxey said: "Since installing the new machinery at the turn of the year, the company has re-affirmed its position as the leading force within the industrial saw blade cutting industry. The investment has already opened up a number of opportunities for the company."
Ernest Bennett was established in 1964 by Robin and his wife Iris. They were joined at the helm by sons David in 1979, now MD designate, and Simon in 1997, who is now the company accountant
