RESIDENTS have won their fight to prevent a 6ft high fence from being erected near their homes to enclose school playing fields.
Harrogate Grammar School's planning application to erect the fence met fierce opposition from residents whose homes would overlook the structure in West End Avenue.
A meeting of North Yorkshire County Council planning committee, in Northallerton, voted by six votes to two against the fence.
The fencing was being planned to prevent out-of- school hours anti-social behaviour at the playing fields
