SWIMMING friends Alex Pawlett and Glen Ient shared the honours in a competition that attracted nearly 40 entrants.

They won the Tadpole Competition organised by Thirsk White Horse swimming team for children aged nine and under, which is designed to introduce young swimmers to competition.

For Alex and Glen, it was a double-whammy - as both have won the competition before.

"This contest is about encouraging swimming youngsters to compete in a friendly environment," said organiser Karen Crewdson.

"Alex and Glen deserve special praise for their efforts. Winning the competition is one thing, but winning it two years in a row is certainly to be commended."

The team competes in many regional and national competitions throughout the year and trains daily at Thirsk swimming pool. For more information check out www.twhst.co.uk or call 0797 405 8409.
