A DOG lover who set up a website selling dog collars and leads made from natural products is launching a range of organic dog biscuits.
Sarah Manby set up Mango Mutt nearly two years ago, selling dog collars and leads made from hemp. She also sold GM-free dog food.
Her online business has also featured in a book by canine behaviourist Victoria Stilwell, star of reality TV show, It's Me or the Dog.
Ms Manby, who lives in Harrogate, but is originally from Thirsk, both North Yorkshire, adopted her black labrador, Murphy, on St Patrick's Day four years ago and has chosen that date, which is this Friday, to launch a range of organic dog treats.
The range includes peanut butter, honey and ginger, parmesan and mint and a gluten-free treat of lambs' liver and cheddar cheese.
Ms Manby - who set up her business after being made redundant - said: "Since launching the Mango Mutt dog store, I have found that a great number of dog owners are looking for a more natural approach when taking care of their dog.
"Some products in the modern dog food industry can use unsuitable ingredients, which have led to the increase of a host of diet related problems, such as dull coats, hyperactivity and stomach upsets.
"After discussing these issues with customers, I felt that the next step was to launch my very own delicious and nutritious dog biscuits.
"The dog biscuits are made by myself, in our kitchen, from human-grade organic ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible."
The ingredients are from organic flour and herb suppliers in Ripon, and the lambs' liver is from an organic abattoir in Carnaby, North Yorkshire.
Ms Manby, who formerly worked in marketing and sales for British Midland and Malmaison, received help from North Yorkshire Trading Standards and the Organic Food Federation in registering her organic products.
The Mango Mutt website is at www.mangomutt.co.uk. It also sells canine gifts, toys and grooming implements.
