GLOBAL engineering company Aker Kvaerner has recruited honours student EMILY GARBUTT.

An associate member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, she has joined the company's Stockton office as an electrical/instrument designer.

Miss Garbutt is studying for a BEng (Hons) in electrical/electronic engineering at the University of Northumbria, in Gateshead, on day-release over four years.

She is working with a team of three designers on a floating production, storage and offshore loading contract.

She spent more than four years with West's Engineering Design Limited, where projects included a study for the Battersea Energy Centre project, in London.
