A POLICE officer is facing a charge of assaulting a nurse after he was taken to hospital following an accident.
PC Neil Chisholm has been told to stay away from work while colleagues investigate the allegation.
The 23-year-old is alleged to have assaulted the woman at the University Hospital of Hartlepool on Tuesday, February 14.
PC Chisholm pleaded not guilty when he appeared in Teesside Magistrates Court today. He was suspended by bosses at Cleveland Police after the allegation was made.
PC Chisholm, of Pentland Close, Peterlee, east Durham, was released on unconditional bail and will next appear at court in four weeks time.
