A VOLUNTEER football coach has been given the chance to promote the beautiful game across the Atlantic next summer.
Paul Ginsberg, 19, a former pupil at Wolsingham School and Community College, was chosen from thousands of applicants to coach youngsters at Camp Half Moon near Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
He joined Wolsingham Football Academy as a volunteer in May 2004 and went on to obtain the FA level one coaching award.
He still trains academy youngsters during breaks from his sports therapy studies at Teesside University and hopes to become a physiotherapist.
Paul applied for Camp America online, obtained references from colleagues at the academy and attended a local interview.
He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience and I am grateful for the assistance given to me by the football academy."
Nigel Douthwaite, Wear Valley Sports Club development officer, said: "Paul is an excellent example of how young people can benefit from volunteering in sport and I wish him well with his future career."
