THOUSANDS of people are expected to visit a North-East venue next weekend for a multi-cultural festival.
The second Gateshead International Jazz Festival is to be held at The Sage Gateshead next Friday to Sunday.
Programme director Ros Rigby said: "The region has long been without a major jazz festival and we are pleased to be able to rectify that, presenting a range of local, national and international artists."
The first day is hosted by Radio One DJ Gilles Peterson, who will introduce acts such as The Heritage Orchestra and the Stan Tracey Quartet in two evening gigs before inviting the audience to enjoy his DJ set.
On day two, this year's focus on the Netherlands becomes more apparent with a concert called The Dutch Jazz Connection with musicians including cellist Ernst Reijseger and drummer Han Bennink.
The link between jazz and dance is explored on day three with dancer and choreographer Sheron Wray teaming up with trumpeter and composer Byron Wallen.
