RUNNERS are preparing for a popular charity road race on Sunday.
More than 1,000 runners are expected to line up at the start of the annual Redcar Half-Marathon, in east Cleveland, with a £1,500 prize fund.
The race, which incorporates the North-East Championships, offers the winning man £100 and a £50 voucher, as well as prizes for each of the top ten.
The women's winner will receive £75 and a £40 voucher, with prizes for each of the top six.
There are also prizes for six categories of veteran men and women, as well as a wheelchair event.
The event's official charity is the Zoe's Place children's hospice, at Normanby, Stockton. To enter, go to www. redcar-cleveland.gov.uk or call (01642) 471503.
Entry is £14.50, or £12.50 for club members. Entrants must be over 18.
Councillor Dave Fitzpatrick said: "I hope everyone has a wonderful day, both competitors and spectators."
Road closures will be in operation during the event, which will start at 10.30am.
Entries can be made from 8am on the day.
Results will be on The Northern Echo's website from Monday at www.thisisthe northeast.co.uk/redcarrun
