POLICE yesterday combed a park where two carrier bags that sparked a bomb alert at a police station were found.
Forensic experts and sniffer dogs searched Burn Park, next to Sunderland University's Murray Library on Tuesday.
The city's Gilbridge Avenue police station was evacuated as a precaution for 20 minutes after workers who found the bags handed them in there.
An Army bomb disposal team from Catterick took the bags for examination.
