A GIRLS' football team from Consett has secured a cash handout from a bus company.
Go North East donated the money to Blackfyne Girls' Football Club as part of its Busmiles community investment programme.
The money will be used to buy new jackets for the school's under-14's girls' football team.
The team has been part of the Durham County Girls' Mini Soccer league for three years.
Club secretary, Marie O'Rourke, said: "The girls are doing very well, and before Christmas had even reached third in the league.
"The donation has been gratefully received and put to very good use.
"The girls work very hard and get together every Tuesday night to train.
"When we heard of the Busmiles funding offered by Go North East we thought we would apply, and are very happy we did.
"We would like to thank Go North East for their contribution to the team."
