ADRIAN Webster is prepared to put club before country - if it means winning back his place at Darlington.

New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert is expected to name Webster in next month's two games against Chile in Santiago.

But, with the 25-year-old on the fringes of a recall at Darlington, the midfielder has revealed he would be willing to put his blossoming international career on hold.

After making his international debut against Australia in June last year, Webster earned his second and third caps in last month's two-match series against Malaysia.

Domestically, Webster has endured a frustrating campaign, which has brought just five starts.

But, following Quakers' recent slump in results - without a win in five games - and several injuries in midfield, manager David Hodgson has hinted at handing Webster a first-team reprieve.

Webster was offered the opportunity by Hodgson to leave the club on loan to be playing regular football.

But he revealed: "I've never wanted to go anywhere and I've told the gaffer I'm always here, ready to play.

While Webster is willing to sacrifice a place in Herbert's provisional 38-man squad, which is announced on April 12, the ex-Charlton man hopes to be involved in their next friendly - against Brazil in June.

Meanwhile, skipper Matt Clarke returns to training today ahead of Saturday's visit of Chester City. The 25-year-old missed the defeat at Leyton Orient with a groin injury.
