STUDENTS from Darlington College hit the town this week to raise money for victims of the Asian earthquake.
Members of the BTEC 1st Diploma in Travel and Tourism gathered cash donations and raffle prizes from shops in Darlington, including Morrisons, Ottakar's, and the Body Shop.
The raffle was held on Monday, then students fell silent on Tuesday in a sponsored six-hour silence.
Student Emma Gell, 18, said: "We needed to organise an event as part of our course and thought it would be good to do something for charity."
They hope to raise about £200 for survivors of the earthquake that decimated northern Pakistan and India.
