SUPERMARKET staff have proved they are real softies when it comes to helping tiny tots at the local hospital.
They held a name-the-teddy competition at the Northallerton branch of Tesco, to help the Friarage Hospital's special care baby unit.
Thanks to the staff and customers who had a go in the competition, almost £300 was raised.
The winner was Tesco employee Lesley Clayton, and the teddy was christened Shiver.
Sister Anne Wall from the baby unit said: "Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and entered the competition.
"We will use the money to help the tiny premature babies we care for at the hospital."
