SPECIALIST equipment appears to have been targeted by burglars during a break-in at a pet store.
Staff at Delves Pet Warehouse in Delves Lane, Consett, County Durham, discovered the break-in on opening the premises yesterday.
Intruders smashed a rear window at the premises, in Gloucester Road, but bypassed the till and headed straight for a display of ten horse and cattle clippers, worth a total of £2,000.
The distinctive clippers, two of which are cordless, all bear the Heiniger brand name across the handles.
Sergeant Jim Bates, of Consett Police Station, said: "It seems whoever broke in did so just to steal the clippers. They ignored the till and all the other equipment in the building.
"Right next to the clippers was an expensive horse blanket worth £250 and they didn't even bother with that."
Anyone with information about the break-in, which took place between 5pm on Saturday and 9am yesterday, is asked to contact the Durham force non-emergency line on 0845 60 60 365, or the Crimestoppers' freephone line, on (0800) 555111.
