Durham City are hoping for a bigger than average crowd for their ANL home game with Brandon tonight. The club has pledged to donate all its gate receipts and generous match sponsorship from Archibalds to the benefit fund for the dependants of former Horden and Billingham Synthonia keeper Steve Tierney, who passed away last year.
In the UniBond First Division, Bishop Auckland go to Warrington with virtually a full squad. Bishops need to win to have any chance of avoiding a place in the bottom two.
West Auckland go to Morpeth in their League Cup quarter-final, and should be at full strength, while Spennymoor have doubts over strikers Wayne Edgcumbe and Warren Byrne for their home Craven Cup tie with Norton.
Wearside League club Birtley Town might not be able to win promotion to the Northern League because their ground won't be up to standard. The club was hoping that it would be given a 12-month breathing space to get its facilities up to NL standard, but FA official Mike Appleby said: "That will come into effect in the future but not at the moment as far as I am concerned."
