POP duo The Pet Shop Boys are to play a concert at the Swan Hunter shipyard on Tyneside with the Northern Sinfonia.
Neil Tennant, who was born in North Shields, North Tyneside, and Chris Lowe will perform a new soundtrack to the 1925 film Battleship Potemkin on Monday, May 1, to an audience of up to 50,000.
The music was written by the group, with orchestration by German composer Torsten Rasch, and premiered two years ago in a free concert in London's Trafalgar Square.
The concert, one of a series of events organised by the Newcastle-Gateshead Initiative, will be filmed for a Channel Four documentary.
Ticket arrangements have yet to be finalised.
