THE group behind plans for a new children's play park is pleased with the response to a consultation day.
The EQUal Partnership wants to create the area in Langley Park, which will be called Sir Bobby Robson Park, after the former Newcastle United manager who grew up in the village, on land next to the sports and social club.
Villagers were invited to the Institute, in Church Street, on Saturday, to see the plans and discuss them with the partnership.
EQUal says the support of villagers is vital if it is to secure £500,000 that it needs to carry out the project.
Trustee Jason Martin said the event attracted quite a few' people, and that it appeared that word of the project was spreading.
"The park is very important, because there has been nothing for kids in the village for a long time. The original park, at the other end of the village, isn't safe."
The facility would include a multi-purpose games area and areas for skateboarders and BMX bikers.
The partnership hopes to get funding from the National Lottery and has sent leaflets to homes in the village.
