A 16-YEAR-OLD Darlington girl was warned she could face a custodial sentence if she re-offends.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a 12-month supervision order, after she admitted assaulting another girl.
But magistrates warned her over her future behaviour after they gave the order.
Chairman of the bench Aileen Little said: "You need to count yourself as very lucky. This is a very serious assault."
The court heard that she, and another girl, assaulted the victim on January 21.
The defendant kicked the girl in the mouth while she was on the ground.
She grabbed her by the hair, picked her up, and kicked her in the chest.
The girl's injuries included bruising and swelling to her chest, a cut lip and sore arms.
The supervision order will include 15 hours of reparation work. She was also ordered to pay £100 compensation.
