PATIENTS at one of North Yorkshire's major hospitals are to benefit from the work of local volunteers.
The Friends of the Friarage Hospital have donated more than £13,000-worth of medical equipment for use in the theatres at the Northallerton hospital.
That includes keyhole surgery equipment for urology procedures, hydraulic leg positioners, drips for orthopaedic surgery and screens to improve patients privacy when they arrive in the reception area.
The volunteers have become an essential part of the hospital community over the years and have raised many thousands of pounds to help staff and patients.
Theatre manager, Elaine Wood, said: "The surgeons and theatre staff are very grateful to the Friends of the Friarage and much appreciate this very generous donation."
