YOUNGSTERS who helped clean up their town have had their handiwork rewarded.
Seven pupils from George Washington Primary School, in Washington, won a competition to design a poster on the theme of Cleaning Up Our Community.
The competition was organised by the Washington Housing Group and all the winners received gift vouchers and certificates.
Sandra Brownlie, neighbourhood housing manager with the company, said: "This competition was about raising awareness and helping young people realise the importance of owning their community and taking pride in the area in which they live, by not dropping litter and disposing of their rubbish responsibly."
