AFRICAN rhythms will reverberate around a corner of Teesside.
Pupils from Our Lady and St Bede's School, Stockton, and Stockton Riverside College are to perform with the UK's first post- modern African dance company, Sakoba Dance, at the Arc, in Stockton, next week, following three days of intense training, choreography and rehearsals.
They will be working with award-winning choreographer and performer Boda Lawal.
The project will culminate in a performance of Sango (The God of Thunder) and Iyanu (Miracle) at the theatre, in Dovecot Street, on Thursday, at 7.30pm.
Kevin Parker, director of Arc, said: "Sakoba Dance Company is helping to deliver a truly unique educational experience and the young people are grasping the opportunity with both hands.
"I would urge anyone interested in dance and performing arts not to miss out on this chance to see some very talented and passionate people."
Boda Lawal and his Newcastle-based company, Sakoba Dance, have received critical acclaim from around the world.
Tickets for the dance performance are available from the Arc box office on (01642) 525199. Discounts are available for young people, students and the over-60s.
