A BOARDED-UP petrol station could be taken over by supermarket chain Sainsbury's.
The former Kirklee Service Station, in Victoria Road, Darlington, closed earlier this year.
The site, which included a small shop and carwash, has since been cordoned off and now lies empty.
It is thought that Sainsbury's, which has a supermarket adjacent to the site, could seek to revive the station using its own brand.
A spokeswoman from the company's property team said: "We are aware of that opportunity and are currently reviewing our options."
