SINGERS are warming up their vocal chords for the annual production of an amateur operatic company.
The Best of Cole Porter is being put on by Lanchester and District Amateur Operatic and Choral Society.
It will feature songs such as Night and Day, I Love Paris, You're The Top and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, stitched together with tales from his life story.
Soloist Richard Woods said: "We favour doing compilations that allow us to do popular music. It is much easier to put on, rather than an opera, and a lot of amateur societies are doing that these days.
"You can put on a lot of well-known songs, and Cole Porter has got loads of them."
The society's 35 members have been rehearsing up to three times a week for the past six weeks.
The show is on at St Bede's RC Comprehensive School, in Lanchester, from March 15 to 17, at 7.15pm. Tickets are £5, £4 concessions and £2.50 for children. To book call (01207) 521458.
