FINDS from the region's seashore have helped to shape a new exhibition.
Work by artist Jan Sopher, who takes her inspiration from the North-East coastline and North York Moors, has gone on show at the Durham Light Infantry Museum and Durham Art Gallery.
In her art, she combines items she finds with things she makes. Among the materials are burnt paper, feathers, stones, wood bark, glass, shells, leaves and handmade felt.
She said: "My work is concerned with nature, small things like stones and leaves as well as the larger overall view. A large part of my work is landscape. Many of the found objects used in my work are collected on long walks across the moors or along the beach."
Moorscapes, seascapes, sunset and trees all feature in the exhibition, which is in the Print Room of the Durham County Council-run gallery until March 19.
"Colour fascinates me - the ways in which the many shades of colour in nature enhance each other.
