BRAINY pupils have been putting their heads together to compete in a race of skills.
Hartburn Primary School is celebrating receiving an "outstanding" Ofsted report, with an entry into a national maths competition.
The Stockton school, with 534 pupils, aged three to 11, has outstanding teaching and learning with "very high standards and very good progress of pupils by the end of year six," the inspectors said.
Headteacher Tom Gittins said their entry into the Maths in Motion competition proves the high achievement at the school.
"Pupils have to use their maths skills and a computer to calculate their way around a Grand Prix track.
"The skills have been accumulated throughout their time at school, some from the age of three, and in their final year, this competition proves their talents.
"We actually won Maths in Motion two years ago, even beating some secondary pupils.
"We are extremely proud with the Ofsted report, which acknowledges all of the hard work."
The school hopes to make it to the final of the competition in Birmingham in the summer.
