A WOMAN who has helped bring up her twin granddaughters while looking after her disabled brother has been named a Wondermum.
Maureen Clews has won the Darlington branch of Asda Wondermum Award.
Mrs Clews, 57, was nominated by her daughter Amanda, for her work bringing up her seven-year-old twin daughters.
Mrs Clews also looks after Amanda's three-year-old daughter and is a carer for her brother who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy.
She also helps out at Whinfield Primary School.
Sarah Makepeace, from Asda, said: "This is an annual competition.
"We get our staff to vote on the nominations.
"We got some really, really good letters, but this was the one the majority went for."
Mrs Clews said: "It was shock when I found out. To me this is just something any other family would do.
"But I wasn't expecting this at all, the twins never said anything and normally they can't keep a secret."
Mrs Clews' name will now go forward to the regional Wondermum competition.
