A GIRL who wants to be a soldier has been chosen as a cadet force's representative.
Teenager Emma Taylor has been installed as the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for the year.
She will represent Cleveland Army Cadets and assist Sir Paul Nicholson, the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, with his official duties, which this year include three royal visits.
Stockton Sixth Form student Emma, 17, is a sergeant with the Norton Royal Engineers Detachment and wants to join the regular Army as an officer with the Royal Engineers.
* A Lord Lieutenant's Certificate has been awarded for good service to Staff Sergeant Darren Simcox, Commander of Thornaby Green Howard Detachment.
The Army Cadet Force Certificate of Good Service has been presented to Lieutenant Darren Hunter and Sergeant Ashley Readman.
