NEWCASTLE'S FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea has been given the glamour Wednesday night spot after the Football Association confirmed the last-eight schedule yesterday.
After seeing off Mansfield, Cheltenham and Southampton in previous rounds, the Magpies will travel to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, March 22.
The game, with an 8.05pm kick-off, will be televised live on BBC1.
Newcastle's quarter-final is the first half of a North-Eastern double-header in the capital, with Middlesbrough taking on Charlton at the Valley 24 hours later.
Boro, who are facing a fixture pile-up as they continue to battle on three fronts following Thursday night's UEFA cup success against Stuttgart, tackle Alan Curbishley's men at 8pm in a game that will also be shown live on the BBC.
The scheduling of Boro's quarter-final has forced a change in Newcastle's schedule, with the Magpies' league game at the Valley having been put back 24 hours.
Newcastle were due to take on Charlton on Saturday, March 25, but the Premiership clash will now take place on Sunday, March 26 (ko 2pm).
