AN awards ceremony has been held to recognise the achievements of a group of looked-after children in Darlington.
The ceremony, at Darlington Football Club'S TFM Arena, celebrated the personal and academic successes of the young people.
Certificates were given to children for a wide range of achievements, including improved behaviour, academic success and being brave during medical treatment.
All the children were nominated for an award by their social workers.
The certificates were presented by Darlington FC manager David Hodgson and Chris McEwan, Darlington Borough Council's cabinet member for children's services.
The children also received tickets for Darlington foot- ball matches and for the Hollywood Bowl at Teesside Park.
Coun McEwan said: "These young people have achieved great things at school and at home and they deserve this opportunity to have their achievements recognised.
"They can be very proud of their achievements and I am sure they will enjoy their football and bowling trips."
