VISITORS and residents have a chance to win £100-worth of vouchers in a photography contest for a guide to walks in the Darlington area.
The free guide is called Walk, the Darlington Way, and aims to get more people exploring footpaths and bridleways.
It has been produced by Darlington Borough Council's tourism and countryside teams and is available from the town's tourist information centre.
An electronic version can be found at www.visitdarlington. com
To mark the launch, the council is running an amateur photography competition, which will run from Wednesday until August 31.
The photographs entered must come from a walk featured in the guide. The prize is £100 of Millets vouchers.
The guide is aimed at leisure walkers, so most of the routes are on easy to moderate terrain, and it incorporates easy-to-read maps.
Council cabinet member for economic regeneration, Councillor David Lyonette, said: "This guide has something for everyone, and I expect that a lot of people will be surprised at how many beautiful walks there are right on their doorsteps."
