A JURY has been shown a video of the events leading up to an attack on a man who was hit with a baton-style weapon and left with severe facial injuries.
Trevor Fletcher denies the attack on John Myers which followed a New Year's Eve party at the Dorman's Club, in Oxford Road, Middlesbrough.
Teesside Crown Court yesterday heard how a number of fights broke out after drinkers spilled out of the club in the early hours of January 1 last year.
At one stage, at least 50 people were thought to be involved, either in the fighting, or attempting to break it up. Some of the trouble was captured on closed-circuit television cameras.
The jury has already been told how Mr Fletcher, a committee member at the club, whose job it was to help close up and collect people's drinks glasses, had joined in with his son, Trevor, during a scuffle with another man who had his drink taken away from him at the club.
Mr Fletcher, 50, of Laurel Avenue, Middlesbrough, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The trial continues.
