PARENTS went back to school this week in a Government initiative.
Ropery Walk Primary School, in Seaham, which has recently seen the addition of new sports and arts facilities, was chosen as the launch pad for the Family Fun Week.
The project aims to involve families in out-of-school learning, including parenting, study support, sports and arts as well as providing access to ICT, health and social care services.
The scheme marks the start of a Government project and Ropery Walk Primary is one of the first schools in the district to take part in the Extended Schools Initiative.
The activities, which will continue until Friday, will include singing, song-writing, drumming, making music, dance, New Age Kurling, sports activities and two healthy lunches.
Youngsters will also join their parents during the week, which is the first major project at the school since its Space for Sports and Arts facilities were opened.
The provisions have provided a sports hall, floodlit multi-use games area, classrooms and art room.
The school would like to hear from any members of the community who have ideas for future projects and activities at the school.
Anyone who would like to use the facilities can contact the school on 0191-581 3959.
