PRISONERS are helping to work on a multi-million pound restoration of Darlington's South Park project.
Inmates from HMP Acklington, in Northumberland, are making 200 foldaway chairs for musical events when the bandstand is open.
Their work follows the furnishing of the park's Outside In education centre last year by inmates from HMP Frankland, in Durham.
The revamp of the park has been supported by a £3.9m Heritage Lottery Fund grant and will be completed later this year.
