KARATE champions John Robinson and Bryan Crossley have reunited for a one-off martial arts show to boost funds for charity.
Mr Robinson, known for his record-breaking feats smashing bricks and concrete slabs with his bare hands, has come out of retirement especially for the event which will raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Appeal.
Mr Crossley, from Crook, brings more than 40 years of experience to the show, having been the first All-Britain All-Style Free Fighting Karate Champion before going on to become England captain. He is still the country's highest ranked wado instructor.
Both men were approached to take part in the event by Shildon Mayor Stuart Bird, who wanted to do something special to raise money for his chosen charity.
Mr Robinson, 58, from Shildon, who gave up the art of breaking to concentrate on raising thousands for charity by walking and climbing mountains bare foot, has spent the past few months doing press ups on his fingers and thumbs to train for the event.
He said: "I have not done this sort of thing for two years but Stuart is a family friend and when he asked me, I couldn't say no. I have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities over the years and the Great North Air Ambulance is a good cause, so why not.''
The show takes place at Shildon's Civic Hall, on Saturday at 7pm. Tickets are available from the hall and from Shildon Town Council offices at £6 each.
