A COUPLE who cannot remember ever having had an argument, celebrate 50 years of marriage today.
Joyce and John Braithwaite, of Middleton St George, were married at St Laurence's Church in Middleton One Row on February 18, 1956.
They got together through a mutual friend, after having seen each other in the street.
Mr Braithwaite, 73, who is originally from Low Dinsdale, near Neasham, worked for Northumbrian Water, for 29 years.
Mrs Braithwaite, 71, who has lived in Middleton St George all her life, was a medical receptionist in the village for 33 years.
The couple have one son, Philip, a grandson, and a great-grandson.
Mrs Braithwaite said: "It's just all about having a bit of give and take, we work well together.
"I don't think we've ever had an argument."
The couple, who are both keen bowlers, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with a meal with 17 members of their family at the Spa Hotel at Durham-Tees Valley Airport.
