TIME is running out for people to have a say on a plan that aims to safeguard children and young people.
Hartlepool Borough Council is carrying out a second phase of consultation on the Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP), which is due to end on Tuesday.
So far, dozens of children and adults who are involved with young people have commented on the plan, which will be discussed at a council scrutiny meeting at the beginning of March.
Under the Children Act 2004, all councils are required to have a CYPP in place by April. The plan is based on five key outcome areas for children, including:
* Staying safe
* Being healthy
* Enjoying and achieving
* Making a positive contribution
* Economic well-being
As part of the first phase of consultation, youngsters identified priorities for the plan. These included good schools, a settled home life, healthy food, adults that listen, and a safe environment.
Adrienne Simcock, the council's director of children's services, said: "The consultation has been widespread throughout the town and the feedback we have received will undoubtedly shape the final plan.
"This is a really significant document as it aims to ensure that the needs of every child and young person in Hartlepool up to the age of 19 are met.
"There is, however, still a few days left for anyone who has not had the opportunity to air their views."
