Pupils are planning a remembrance garden to commemorate students and teachers who lost their lives when they were part of the school community.
Stockton Borough Council and the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust are working with Billingham Campus School to apply for funding.
Pupils have put together design ideas to create the area at the school, which will incorporate aspects of the personalities of those commemorated.
A wildlife and sensory area, an outdoor classroom, a small performance area and displays of pupils' work, are all planned.
The school's parent teacher association and governors have raised £2,000, but it is hoped local businesses will help with sponsorship.
Councillor Alex Cunningham, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "This is a wonderful and thoughtful way to remember pupils and teachers.
"All parties are working hard to secure more funding and I'm sure they would welcome any support from the business community, however small."
The school is also producing a book of remembrance where donations can be acknowledged.
