GLASS fibre maker Lamplas has increased turnover from £4.8m to £5.2m this year and is planning further growth as it moves into new markets.
Lamplas operates from two sites in the Consett area and employs about 100 people.
The company designs and develops glass fibre components for the leisure market, and supplies caravan and holiday home manufacturers.
Last year it invested in casting technology and started producing granite-effect sinks, shower screens and worktops.
"We have built up substantial expertise and experience in the leisure vehicle market, successfully moved into domestic ware and now is the time to move forward again," said operations director Keith Siddle.
"We already have a presence in the construction, domestic and medical markets but intend to expand this considerably and move into other new areas, such as industrial equipment, as well.
"The solid surface side of our business is growing fast and we are working with architects and companies on hotel interiors and supermarket check-outs as well as creating bespoke designs for domestic customers."
"It is vital that we remain innovative."
