A NORTH-EAST man was left with his eyeball hanging out after he was knocked to the floor and beaten in a brawl.
A night out in Newcastle left 26-year-old Omar Hussein with his eyeball detached after he was kicked and punched by a vicious gang.
As he recovers in hospital at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, police are hunting up to four attackers.
Mr Hussein, of Dunston, Gateshead, recalled how he felt his left eye hanging from its socket as he crawled on his hands and knees after the attack in the Tiger Tiger bar in the city's Gate complex.
His brother took photographs of the horrific injuries on his mobile phone while Mr Hussein was in hospital.
Mr Hussein, who has worked as a performance analyst with Sunderland City Council for four years, was set upon by a number of attackers, and felt the kicks and blows to his head.
As his vision became blurred and he couldn't stand up, he began crawling on all fours to get help.
He said: "I felt my eye and it was hanging out."
Further tests will be carried out on his eye, but the doctors have said the prospects are grim. He said: "I don't even know if they can save my eye because of the damage. I will almost certainly be blind in that eye."
The attack happened at about 1am on Sunday. Police said the premises were full and appealed for customers who were nearby when the fight broke out to contact 0191-2146 555.
