A NORTH-EAST company is supplying zero-emission electric vehicles to Britain's leading nuclear power station.
British Nuclear Group has expanded its fleet of battery-powered trucks at Sellafield, Cumbria, after acquiring another van from Smith Electric Vehicles, of Stanley, County Durham.
Kevin Harkin, business development manager for Smith, said: "We have a strong relationship with British Nuclear Group, stretching back over several years and are proud to supply Sellafield.
"This is a unique site, with very stringent standards for vehicle safety, reliability and environmental awareness. We work hard to meet and exceed those standards."
Sellafield already had six Smith vehicles on-site, operating in various roles. This purchase takes its investment in Smith technology to well over £100,000.
