AN organic fruit and vegetable shop has had huge success in its first few weeks of opening.
Farmaround Ltd, an organic grocery home delivery service, recently relocated from London to Richmond, North Yorkshire, creating 43 jobs.
Two weeks ago, it opened a shop in Newbiggin, selling groceries, fresh milk and organic cheeses from the Swaledale Cheese Company and the Hawes Creamery.
Spokesperson Stuart Parsons said if the success continued, the natural step would be to open more shops.
"The store has done exceptionally well and the reaction by shoppers has been really positive," he said. "Even after just a couple of weeks, we have a large number of regular shoppers."
Farmaround sources most of its vegetables from North Yorkshire.
Mr Parsons added: "We prefer to buy locally because we are then totally confident of the quality of our produce and this also reduces food miles, which in turn helps us to protect the environment."
Since moving to Richmond, Farmaround has extended its home delivery service to cover the whole of the North as well as Greater London. It has also launched an organic bakery.
